Double Eyelid (Surgery)

Double Eyelid Suture is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure aimed at creating a double eyelid fold for individuals with monolid or single eyelids. Here's how it differs from Double Eyelid Surgery:

Treatment

Double Eyelid Surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a more invasive procedure for creating a double eyelid fold. Here's how it differs from Double Eyelid Suture:

Permanent suture material is used for our Double Eyelid Suture (DST) - this means that the thread does not dissolve overtime, and can be removed at any time.

Procedure

Double Eyelid Surgery requires incisions along the eyelid to remove excess skin, fat, and tissue. The surgeon then reshapes the eyelid to create the double eyelid fold.

Since it does not involve surgical incisions or tissue removal, Double Eyelid Suture is minimally invasive. Patients typically experience less swelling, bruising, and shorter recovery time compared to surgery.

Invasiveness

Compared to Double Eyelid Suture, surgery is more invasive and involves incisions along the eyelid. Patients may experience more significant swelling, bruising, and longer recovery time.

As long as eyelid does not sag, the results are permanent. As mentioned, the suture does not fade overtime. The Eyelid cresase may become less apparent due to eyelid sagginess and aging.

Results

Surgery typically provides more permanent results since it involves the removal of tissue and reshaping of the eyelid. The double eyelid fold created through surgery is considered more enduring compared to sutures.

The procedure is reversible since it involves the use of sutures to create the fold. If desired, the sutures can be removed, allowing the eyelids to return to their original appearance.

Reversibility

While revisions are possible, reversing the effects of surgery may be more challenging since tissue has been permanently altered or removed.

For double eyelid suture, recovery is typically less than 2 weeks, making it a quicker and less invasive option.

Downtime

The recovery period for double eyelid surgery is typically between 3-5 months, involving a longer healing process.
